Our first home based art lesson

We had our first home based art lesson with Teacher Huiyi on Monday. It was an awesome experience for us especially for mummy like me who can save the trouble of bringing the kids travel out just to attend art lesson every once a week. Best thing is my 2 children can have the lesson together! I suppose you can’t do it outside as most art schools that I have checked out divide the students according to their age group. Imagine having to bring them out 2 times a week but only 1 of them can attend lesson at a time. I really cannot afford that.

The children warmed up to Teacher Huiyi pretty fast and they started chatting away even before the lesson actually started. She asked the children what they would like to draw and they had no idea at all! So she started off suggesting them drawing some flowers and my girl shouted:”I want PINK flower because I love PINK!!”. Alrighty, pink it is my little one.

Here they are, starting their first home based art lesson. The teacher started by drawing a flower herself and showing it to the children with some explanation on why, what, how, where and when.

Later on, the children are free to create their flowers with their imagination and use whatever colours they like.

As you have noticed, the little one needed a little bit more help than her brother. But it’s pretty good that she understood teacher’s instructions and followed accordingly during the lesson while the brother was fully focusing on getting his flowers pretty and bright.

To my surprise, they completed their drawing and colourings within 1.5hrs. You can imagine how focused they were during the lesson. Before the lesson started, I thought they would run around (excuses to go toilet, drink water, etc…you know what I mean?) since they are doing it at the comfort of our own home. But they did not. This shows how engaging the teacher was, during the lesson, since she’s able to sit them throughout the lesson! Thumbs up! Want to see the final product?

Voila! This is it! What do you think?

We are so going to have more lessons with Teacher Huiyi! Stay tuned for our next arty update! 😉

I am a busy mummy of 2 wonderful kids. Their thirst for learning has made me busy researching and making learning resources/materials for them. Most of the time will be according to the topics that they have requested. Otherwise, I will randomly pick a topic and create the materials for them. Most of the time, the materials will include right brain training as well. From them, I get to learn a lot too! However, material preparation is quite a challenge! It will even be more challenging if you are a working parent! Here, I would love to share what we have done and hope busy parents out there will find our materials useful for their little one. If you have any queries/comments or if you have any topics that you would like to cover with your little one(s), do drop me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can :) Our mission is to find, discover and reveal the fun of kids learning! Drop us a message if you are interested in any of our materials. Let's make learning fun!
